The new Cité du design in Saint-Etienne (France) is located on the site of the city’s former weapons factory. This new design centre sets out to become a reference in terms of research, training, communication, dissemination and service. The major difficulty of this project was to create a link between the Cité du design and Saint-Etienne city centre.
The solution found is stunning, heralding the beginning of a long urban redevelopment programme in Saint-Etienne.
Belgian Blue Stone was chosen for the centre’s landscaping (8500 m²). The Patrimoine paving stones, in a 15 x 15 cm format, perfectly offset the “Platine”, a steel structure covered with snake skin.
Paving the way for the city's future
With its versatile design, Patrimoine paving stones can be harmoniously integrated into all architectural styles. Their durability make them the perfect product to meet stringent architectural demands.
